Where did you grow up?
What education and certifications do you hold?
I hold a Bachelor of Science in communication from the University of Idaho. My certifications include SkyAngels SKYacademy (General Emergency Crewmember, G550, In-flight Service, Hospitality & Etiquette) and Heartsaver CPR AED.
What makes GAC stand apart from other private charters?
I love that they are a family-run company, that the owners also fly, and that there was on-the-job training for cabin attendants. So far, everyone that I have met has been really nice and helpful.
What do you enjoy most about your position?
I love flying and ensuring that our guests have an amazing and safe experience while flying with GAC. We get to see the world and meet and engage with so many interesting guests as our passengers.
When did you first realize you wanted to be a Cabin Attendant?
I have always had a love for travel. I looked at commercial positions, but I couldn’t pull the trigger, given their work conditions. Then I learned about private aviation and that they had cabin attendants, and I set my sights on that once both of my children graduated from high school.
What is your favorite occasion to celebrate while flying?
Birthdays, for sure! Everyone is happy and in a celebratory mood! It’s also fun to decorate the cabin and see their faces when they see what I’ve done for them!
What motivates you to do the best on the job?
It’s just who I am. I always want to be at my best and show up for our guests. If they are relaxed and smiling and enjoying themselves, that makes me happy and motivates me.
In your opinion, what makes a good cabin attendant?
Someone who anticipates the needs of their guests and ensures they have an amazing and safe experience.
What was your most memorable moment with Global Air Charters?
The 50th birthday party of a schoolteacher who took all her friends from all walks of life to the Galapagos Islands to celebrate. They arrived at the airframe at 3:00 am, ready to celebrate, and they did for the entire duration of the flight! It was a lot of fun.
What do you like to do when you aren’t flying?
Travel with my people. Relax and spend time with my boyfriend Todd, my two boys, Zack and Cade, and dog Rex. Going to concerts, the beach, and exploring other cultures.
What is your favorite travel destination? Why?
That’s tough — I have loved every place I have visited. They all hold a special place in my heart. I really enjoyed a recent trip to Portugal and Spain. I love the people, the food, the wine, the landscape, and the architecture. It’s all so beautiful!
We’re glad to have you on the team, Shalem Patton!
