Director of Maintenance

Rich Barlow, Global Air Charters’ Director of Maintenance, dreamed of building rockets as a child. Now, he’s ensuring the world-class safety standards that GAC is proud to uphold. Read on to learn more about Richard!

Where did you grow up?

Atlantic City, New Jersey.

When did you first realize you wanted to work in aviation?

In fourth grade. Kids dream of being an astronaut — I wanted to build the rockets. Although I did put in a small effort to join NASA, I was too early for the US Space Force and too well entrenched in aviation to start building rockets for SpaceX.

What education and certifications do you hold?

I attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and U.S. Army Aviation School, and I hold an Airframe and Powerplant License.

What makes GAC stand apart from other private charters?

GAC is innovative and flexible, always willing to add new approaches to maximize the utilization of the fleet. GAC is staffed by the most knowledgeable and hard-working people I have met in corporate aviation.

What is your favorite thing about working for GAC?

Being surrounded by a staff of knowledgeable and hard-working individuals that put in the collective effort to work as a team. They always have the mission at heart when they show up every day.

What motivates you to do the best on the job?

The anxiety of knowing something is unfinished, or the feeling of putting in a half-effort is too overwhelming. I hate to think, “I could have done better, but at least it’s done.” I have people depending on me. I need to hold up my end of the promise to deliver.

What is your favorite travel destination?

Europe. It’s refreshing to meet people with completely different perspectives than those in my comfortable community.
