Wimbledon 2023
Wimbledon has a prestigious history dating to the 1800s, which explains the pomp and fanfare surrounding this iconic event today. The tournament is broken into five separate events, with players competing in singles and doubles match play.
This year the tournament will take place July 3–16, and spectators can get their passes to any event in the tournament that hasn’t already filled by queuing for available tickets. Getting tickets any time after December is considered “last minute,” though it’s not impossible.
For those not necessarily interested in attending the events, there’s much to do in the city or near the Wimbledon district.
Living it up in London
Billy Joel will light up London’s Hyde Park on July 7, 2023. When artists like Joel come to town, it’s usually tied to some other massive event, like a tennis grand slam, happening nearby. A beautiful setting like Hyde Park is the perfect summer venue to cap a night out in London.
For a more sedate affair, one that’s still historically fascinating and absolutely beautiful, check out the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. A Military Musical Spectacular will also occur at the same time as Wimbledon, July 4–6, 2023, at the Horse Guards Parade. Beginning each evening at 7:30 pm, these ceremonies offer the spectacle of precision military drills, horseback riding, music, cannon firing, and a fireworks display. The sheer volume of spectacles packed into each of these ceremonies makes anyone wonder how it all gets coordinated and executed so flawlessly.
